SANTA DASH! (day 12)

Well I already knew what todays activity was going to be, it wasn't so much an activity as an event, The Inverclyde Santa Dash! I set my alarm last night so we could get up early for it. Teo was up before Joy and Donald and it was his turn to open the train anyways so I let him open it and told him to give Donald and Joy their sweets, first he went into Donalds room. Donald looked at him Teo put the sweet on the pillow beside him and Donald lay down and went back to sleep. Next he went into Joys room. Joy pulled the covers over her head, daddy pulled them down and Teo threw the sweet at her, she pulled the covers up again and went back to sleep. So much for that. We got organized while we waited for them to wake up. Eventually they got up had breakfast and got into their fancy dress.
We Just put a little santa hat on Teo cause he would be wearing a coat and nobody would see the costume if he were to wear one.

Even daddy Got into the festive spirit and wore a santa hat!

We got to the Battery Park way too early (typical of us) but it wasn't long before others turned up and then we spotted Captain Claus! everyone crowded around to meet him!

Donald and Joy wanted to get their photo taken with him

Finally the announcement came that the race was about to begin and we all gathered at the starting line
Donald shot off first, but held back because he wasn't sure which way to go so followed another runner. Donald held second for a while but eventually lost momentum and Joy shot past him. I encouraged Donald reminding him there would be sweets for him at the end and he shot off again. Joy and Donald took turns losing and regaining momentum and I wasn't feeling particularly fit either. At one point Donald regained momentum and I didn't see him again until I got to the finish line with Joy. I managed to get a picture of Joy as she headed for the finish line.

Joy recieved her medal and selection box etc and rejoined with her big brother.

We waited at the finish line for Teo and daddy. As the youngest runner at today's santa dash Tommy armstrong had to interview him at the finish line!
Finally he was awarded his medal he did so well for all the size of him!

Next year we are going to go running once a week as a family to prepare for the santa dash because none of us were particularly fit for it but we all had fun I'm so proud of them all they deserved their medals!

After the santa dash we went to church and they rehearsed for their church nativity play afterwards.

After church we went to Grandas for soup and shared our surprise snowman we made yesterday! Hands came from every direction to grab a snowball off it!
Everyone enjoyed the surprise and afterwards our snowman looked like this:
There was just enough snowballs left for all the little ones to take a second ball so that's exactly what happened. I have really enjoyed myself today and can hardly believe we only have 12 more fun activities until christmas!
