Happy 2011!

As planned we put the kids to bed well not early but early enough to enjoy a nice quiet game of scrabble before the new year. William used his 50 point head start coupon I gave him for christmas and it was his turn to start so he had every advantage going. before we started he threatened to play normal scrabble instead of trickster and he should have.

near the end of the game we heard fireworks and looked at the clock. 10 to 12! I rushed around opening windows, getting money, pouring shloer and we continued our game until midnight then stopped to wish each other happy new year and take a drink.

The game resumed and  I beat him by 137 points! The board looked like this:

I got out the scrabble dictionary to check some 'iffy' words because we found ourselves looking at words just played saying 'i'll let it slide' because we were too afraid to challenge and lose our turn!

We cleared the board and for fun I started arranging the letters to spell Happy New Year, but realized it wasn't possible without making other words I didn't want like an and re so I added Two thousand eleven as well.

Then William rearranged it so that it had the same message in a different way.

Afterwards we relaxed and enjoyed our shloer.

 I took mine to the couch.

An excellent start to 2011 even if I do say so myself. We went to bed and I was so tired but somebody just kept talking about the old year and the new year and resolutions and blah blah blah who knows what I wasn't paying much attention I just wanted to sleep! eventually sleep came but it wasn't enough, waking up at about 10am my eyes did not want to open and William asks why are you in such a bad mood? Why?! because somebody kept me up til who knows what time and then I woke up to the sound of one of the kids getting yelled at! some things never change I'll never be a morning person that's for sure!
